Ervin Tischer was transferred to the 384th Bomb Group 22 October 1943. He was assigned first to the 1774th Ordnance Supply and Maintenance Co. and then to the 547th BS as an airplane instrument mechanic specialist. He had married Marie in mid-1942 and corresponded with her during his time in the service. Tischer was trained in Lincoln, NE, and Chanute Field in Illinois. He served with the 2nd BG and the 379th BG before coming to Grafton Underwood.
