From the 443rd Sub-Depot Unit History, January 1945 - At the request of Colonel Milton, Station Commander, aircraft 42-102430 is being converted, by the Sub-Depot, to a transport. By removing all turrets guns and putting false floors in waist, bombbay and nose, seats for eighteen (18) men can be conveniently placed. This aircraft renamed Spam-O-Liner will be completed within a few days.

DAMN YANKEE. Assigned to the 545th Bomb Squadron. This is the second 545th BS B-17 with this name, the first being an F model serial number 41-24557.

This aircraft flew 6 missions while assigned to the 384th/546th between 15 April and 8 May 1944. A crash on landing as part of a training flight resulted in substantial damage. It was salvaged after that.

B-17G 43-38501 BK*C "SWEET CHARIOT" This 546th BS aircraft was the last 384th aircraft to be lost in combat, shot down on the mission to the Pilsen/Skoda factory and Pilsen airfield. Hit by flak, Pilot 2Lt Andrew G. Lovett performed an emergency landing at Pisaruv Vesec village, district Tachov, Czechoslovakia (now Písařova Vesce, Czechia) on April 25, 1945, and survived the mission with all the crew.
