Home / 384th After WWII / The 384th Bomb Group Veterans Signing Project / Marlyn Rae Bonacker 7
Marlyn Bonacker became the 92nd Veteran of the 384th Bomb Group to sign the wing panel on 10 October 2014 at the 8th Air Force Historical Society reunion in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bonacker was assigned to the 544th Bomb Squadron in March 1945 as Tail Gunner of the Dominick Martino Crew. While flying his first credited combat mission on 6 April with pilot David Hastings, he was the only survivor from that crew when their aircraft collided with that piloted by Fred Gray (who was flying his 35th combat mission) over Leisnig, Germany. He was a POW until the area he was being held in was abandoned by German forces. He then made his way to the US Forces and returned to Grafton Underwood.
The wing panel host for this signing was Keith Ellefson, assisted by Fred Preller.
