6 February 1944, Nancy, France - Essey Aerodrome (airfield)

Weather obscured the target, so a secondary target or a target of opportunity was sought. The only targets seen through the clouds were closely integrated into populated areas. Therefore, according to standard procedures for operations over occupied territory, no bombs were dropped.

Standing, l-to-r: Leroy A Arquette, bombardier; John W Barkley, Jr, Navigator; George S Hunt, tail gunner/observer (co-pilot); William M Price, III, pilot; Maj Carl Liles, air commander.

Kneeling, l-to-r: Billy J Jackson, ball turret; James C Leigh, flexible gunner; Robert E Smith, radio; Donald W Dailey, flexible gunner; Earl R Beaty, engineer.

Aircraft: 547th B-17G 42-31433 SO*V "RUM POT II"

Based on the aircraft pictured, and the probability that it was a lead crew (presence of Maj/Lt Col), this is probably from the 6 February 1944 mission to Nancy, France. Identifications are based on that presumption.
