Jim Kangas became the 152nd Veteran of the 384th Bomb Group to sign the wing panel on 13 July 2019, at Bill Ward's home in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Kangas was the Ball Turret Gunner for the Raymond Cook Crew, which was assigned to the 546th Bombardment Squadron in November 1944. He completed 35 combat missions, and flew the final strategic bombing mission on 25 April.
