Attendance was light as expected due to COVID concerns, but a number of first-time attendees were welcomed to the 384th family.
Our first activity was a visit to Historic Wendover Airfield (HWA). Twenty bomb `groups` trained here, including the 384th from January thru March of 1943.
Starting from the SMSgt John T. Brinkman Service Club, we toured the airfield with stops at a squadron hangar, firehouse, Norden Bombsight building, the B-29 hangar, and wound up at the atom bomb pit. We then returned to the Club for an unexpectedly lavish sandwich lunch provided for us by HWA. After lunch we had time to examine the Club in greater detail (including the Gift Shop) before boarding the bus for our return to Ogden.
More information about the history and current status of Wendover can be found at Historic Wendover Airfield.
