B-17G 44-8007 "Screaming Eagle"

"Screaming Eagle" was the personal B-17G of Group Commander Col. Dale O. Smith. During a day's practice of flying in formation, a pilot quipped "listen to the eagle scream," as Col. Smith loudly coached his pilots to tighten the formation. Col. Smith heard the remark, and henceforth adopted the name "Screaming Eagle."
