545th BS - Assigned to the group on 17 April 1945, they were too late to enter combat. But they stayed on at Grafton Underwood with the 545th BS when the rest of the squadrons left for Istres, France, flying (among other duties) ground personnel of the 384th and other groups on sightseeing missions to see the damage their efforts had supported. Following that, they joined the rest of the Group in Istres.

Photo and crew identification provided by Cornelius C. Maher on 1 July 2014. The picture was taken at Rapid City, SD in 1945.
Note the "cowboy boots". Mr. Maher said they all purchased cowboy boots while they were in Rapid City. He said it was kind of ironic because the majority of the crew was from the east coast.
Information was posted by Keith Ellefson.
