Kneeling, l-to-r: S/Sgt Dale M Manners, Tail Gunner; T/Sgt Earl E Frerichs, Radio Operator; T/Sgt Perry H Townsend, Jr, Engineer; S/Sgt Melvin F Weeks, Flexible Gunner.
Original crew members not pictured: Sgt William J Laine, Ball Turret Gunner; Sgt Norman A Snyder, Flexible Gunner. Laine flew only three missions with the original Hicks Crew, and Snyder flew no missions with them, having been transferred to the 545th shortly after arrival.

Written on back: "Standing left to right Dick Scheanwald, Don Niederlitz, Dan Miller, Ralph Hicks. Kneeling Dale Manners, Earl Frerichs, Perry Townsend, Mel Weeks."

Note: The enlisted men were promoted to the grades indicated by their rank insignia on 14 August, and F/O Scheanwald was appointed 2nd Lt in mid-October.
