Mr. Alfred Auduc, a member of the French Resistance, assisted and hid David Butcher (TG) of the Myer crew who crashed outside Le Mans on 4 July 1943. Butcher, a truck driver before the war, successfully evaded through France to Spain, and arrived back in the UK on 19 March 1944.
Auduc's house was 2 Rue du Tourniquet in Le Mans, the short house behind the two vans in the center of the photo.
