This photo of the memorial was taken on my first visit to Grafton Underwood, 10 November, 2000. The red granite marker memorializes the 384th, and the role of Grafton Underwood Airfield played in WWII. The component combat units of the 384th - 544th, 545th, 546th, and 547th Bombardment Squadrons - are memorialized both around the base of the monument and in the four "fenceposts" forward of the marker.
