Front Row L to R: Samuel L. Peak, Victor R. Romasco, Thomas J. Tracey, Allen Osterberg.

Back Row L to R: Murl F. Simmons, Richard Oberlin, Frank A. Welke Jr., Robert F. Scharff, Redin R. Kilpatrick, Max L. Rockey.

Redin Robert Kilpatrick was assigned to the 544th Bomb Squad of the 384th Bomb Group, per AAF Station 106 Special Orders #85 dated 6 May 1944.

Photo contributed by Camille Noel, researcher and author of a biography of 2nd Lt. John “Jack” K. Lundberg, a member of the 534th BS, 381st BG. Lundberg died on a mission over Abbeville, France on June 22, 1944. Two men in the photo, Thomas J. Tracey and Redin R. Kilpatrick, were not in the 381st.

Noel found three copies of this photo from the Romasco, Osterberg, and Rockey families. The photo was most likely taken in Alexandria, Louisiana when the crew was training. Sometime between February and April, Jonas and Kilpatrick were separated from the crew and assigned to different bombardment groups.
