This photo was very likely taken after a landing accident at A-46 (Toussous le Noble) on an "administrative" flight on 16 November 1944. Through a misunderstanding, pilot landed on a runway that was closed to B-17 traffic. The right main gear sank into a filled bomb crater at the end of the landing roll, damaging portions of the right wing, engines, and propellors. There were no injuries to personnel.

More information can be found on the Sortie Report for this incident, and in Col Smith's "Screaming Eagle" memoir.

Photo from the Ken Decker Collection, November 2019.
