The dogtag contains his last and first names, his Army Serial Number (39314183), blood type (A), and religious affiliation (P). The meaning of "T45-4" is information about a tetanus shot.

The POW metal tag identifies the camp he was confined in, STALAG XVII-B, and his POW number.
