Little Joe is a term used in a dice game and means a that there is two showing on the face of each die.
A pair of twos was considered lucky by the members of the Frank Alred Crew and so they called themselves "Little Joe'.

The story of "Little Joe" was told to Keith Ellefson by Robert M. Mitchell, Trussville, Alabama, 1 April 2015.
