545th Bomb Squadron, Aircraft 44-8007 JD*Z, Screaming Eagle - B-17G 44-8007 "Screaming Eagle" of the 545th Bomb Squad.
Inscription on reverse reads: Capt. Henry Minor from Conn. – in ship as Pilot and Sqd. Lead.
Assuming reverse caption is correct - that Screaming Eagle was piloted by Henry Minor - the mission must have been #229 on 11/25/1944 to Lützkendorf, Germany. However, note that Touton did not fly that mission.
Per Mark Meehl: the photo was taken from 43-38823 JD*H, the hot camera a/c flown by Fahr, with Leonard Niemiec as navigator.
Per Keith Ellefson, the picture is high quality and looks as though it was taken by a pro-grade camera. John Fahr's ship had a K-22 camera on board that day (Take-Off and Landing Sheet). I believe the K-22 is a handheld camera which would take excellent pictures out the side window.
Photo contributed by Todd Touton, son of co-pilot William Touton.
