Aborted the 9 October 1943 Anklam mission. Later the same day pilot John Berbrich took the a/c on local slow-time for 2 engines. Returned to GU with fuel leak in #3 engine. Short approach, overshot (landed 2/3 way down runway) and wrecked, running off end of runway onto grass, hit a shallow ditch and the under-carriage collapsed; Gilbert Jacobs, crew chief, was on board along w F. Nelson CP & J. Schwartz N. A/c had just transferred in from 305BG and was still wearing their squadron code JJ*T.
