On 6 February 1945, 8000 POW of Grosstychow, Poland left the camp. The injuried boarded a train for a 9 days'hell trip to Barth, Ger, with little food or water. The others marched in a 15 degrees F, 14 inches of snow, between 57 and 86 days, between 530 and 930 kilometers. Known as the Death March, it ended on 26 April 1945 at Halle, Germany. When a prisoner would fall out along the road, a German guard On 6 February 1945, 8000 POW of Grosstychow, Poland left the camp. The injuried boarded a train for a 9 days'hell trip to Barth,would drop back. Soon a shot would be heard and the guard would come back to the formation - alone! It is believed that 1500 POWs did not survive.
