James William Lewis, Radio Operator, 545th Bomb Squadron was seriously wounded, 7 January 1944 on a bombing mission to Ludwigshafen, Germany.
This was his first and only combat mission. He was transferred to the Detachment of Patients, 49th Station Hospital, APO 557 on 4 February 1944.
