Home / 384th After WWII / The 384th Bomb Group Veterans Signing Project / Lawrence W "Red" "Larry" Gerbig 31
Larry Gerbig signed the wing panel on 17 October 2014 at the 384th reunion held in Dayton, Ohio.
Gerbig was a togglier (enlisted bombardier) on the Edward Lynch crew in the 547th Bomb Squadron during the Summer of 1944. He flew 31 combat missions, and returned to the USA.
Larry was especially excited to come to the reunion and sign the wing panel, even though he was only able to stay for one day. He did participate in reunion activities that day, and on the drive home the next day (Saturday) with his son and daughter, they said that was all he could talk about! Sadly we received news that he had passed away on Sunday morning, leaving us with mixed feelings - glad we had gotten to see him one more time and have him sign the wing panel, and sad to see another Veteran of the Greatest Generation slip away.
