"Merrie Hell" was an original aircraft for the 546th BS. It transferred to the 544th BS after the 29 July 1943 mission and was lost on the August 12, 1943 mission to Gelsenkirchen, Germany, with the Ernest Sierens Crew (547th BS). "Merrie Hell" received a direct flak burst at 30,000' which blew off the nose back to the top turret.
