Howard Eklund became the 42nd Veteran of the 384th to sign the wing panel on 15 October 2011, in Washington State.

Eklund was assigned to the 546th Bomb Squadron as the Engineer/Top Turret Gunner of the John Rich Crew in November 1943. He was shot down in April 1944 on his 24th combat mission and was a POW for the remainder of the war.
